Ay, esta es una de las cosas que más disfruté hacer y todo por la revista que te traen del supermercado…Desde que sé que me voy a mudar tomo en mis manos, siempre que puedo y siempre que me llegan, las revistas que entregan los negocios con sus precios y ofertas. Honestamente, la mayor parte de las veces no pasa de hojear estas revistas. Pero unas pocas resulta que encuentro alguna cosa interesante…este fue el caso de la revista de supermercado que decía que había descuento en unos almohadones que tenían la medida perfecta a mis ojos!
Y así fui un día, en estado deplorable después de ir al gimnasio, a comprarme, no uno, ni dos, ni tres…compre 6 almohadones! Sólo dejé uno solito en el estante…ese pobre discriminado tenía la bolsa rota….
(sigh..) This was one of the things I enjoyed most and everything because of the supermarket magazines that are brought home…Since the day I know I’m moving to my new house I try to look at these magazines, every time I can and I get them, to check the offers and discounts.
Honestly, almost every time I just flip the pages without thinking of buying anything. But some of the times I find something interesting…this was the case of the supermarket magazine that showed a great deal for pillows of the perfect size to my eyes!
So I truly went one day, in a terrible state as I was coming from the gym, to buy not one, two or three…but six pillows! I only left one on the shelf…that poor one was discriminated for having the covering bag torn…
Después empezó la aventura de hacer yo misma las fundas. Fue mi siguiente gran proyecto de costura con máquina después de las invitaciones.
Hice almohadones para 2 lugares distintos: un almohadón para cada mecedora y los restantes 4 para un sillón.
Los dos almohadones para las mecedoras tenían que ir con la onda vintage, asi que elegí telas muy texturadas en la gama de los marrones.
After that began the adventure of doing the covers for the pillows myself. That was my second big sewing project, after the envelopes for the invites.
I made 2 types of pillows: 2 for my iron rocking chairs and the rest for a sofa.
The two pillows for the rocking chairs should have the same vintage feel, so I chose textured fabric in the shades of brown.

Los almohadones para el sillón están pensados para dar color a un sillón que tenga telas neutras en los tonos marrón-ocre. Aquí, además de usar texturas, usé también estampados florales, alguna técnica de “quilting” y hasta armé una figura con telas! Me divertí mucho haciendo estas…
The pillows for the couch were thought to give color to a neutral brown-ish color couch. Here, apart from using textures, I used patterned fabric, some amateur quilting technique and I even did a figure with the fabric! I had a lot of fun doing this…

Por último, y fuera ya de los 6 almohadones comprados, Tom tenía un respaldo de un viejo diván. Yo imagino poder usar como sillón alguna cama o algo que se le parezca y usar este respaldo para darle forma de sillón, y adelante los almohadones. Este respaldo estaba cubierto con una especie de cuerina verde muy desgastada, asi que decidí hacer una gran funda marrón. Y para que no quede lisa, utilicé una tela lisa, pero armando un patrón. Así que queda un fondo neutro con onda!
Last (but not least), and aside from the pillows I bought, Tom had an old sort of backrest of an old divan. I imagine we could use a bed as a couch and with adding this backrest and the pillows at the front would do a perfect sofa-set. The backrest was covered with an age-worn green leathery fabric, so I decided to sew a cover for it as well. It is a plain brown color fabric which I sewed in a patterned way to give some sort of movement. It ended up being a neutral background with style!
